Goats

Our Boer Goats
Our goat paddocks are full of personality thanks to our 14 lively Boer goats. Some are seasoned members of the herd, while others are this year’s new arrivals – born right here on the farm. Watching the kids grow and play has been one of the year’s biggest joys!

About the Breed
Boer goats originated in South Africa and are well-known for their distinctive white bodies and reddish-brown heads. They’re a hardy, adaptable breed, prized worldwide for their calm temperament and impressive growth. Boers are natural browsers, happily munching on shrubs, weeds, and grass, which also makes them brilliant at keeping pastures tidy.

Fun Facts

  • Boer goats are friendly and curious – they’ll often be the first to greet visitors at the fence.

  • Kids are full of energy and can often be seen leaping, climbing, and racing each other.

  • They have excellent balance and can climb surprisingly high (don’t be shocked if you see one on a log or rock!).

  • Boer goats are social animals and prefer to be with their herd – they’re rarely found alone.

  • Their long, floppy ears give them a relaxed, laid-back look, even when they’re up to mischief.

From the gentle nannies to the cheeky kids, our Boer goats bring endless entertainment to the farm – and they love a good scratch behind the ears if you visit.
